In this still life, I wanted to capture the richness of color and the drama of light through a close-up view—a kind of macro composition—focused on a handful of vibrant cherries. The reflections on their glossy surfaces immediately caught my eye, and the curved stems help guide the viewer’s gaze throughout the painting, creating movement and rhythm.
The red, white, and blue palette adds a subtle nod to Americana, while also serving as a strong visual foundation. I titled it Life Is Just...—an open-ended phrase that plays on the familiar cliché we all know. It invites the viewer to finish the sentence themselves, making it both personal and reflective.
This piece is meant to delight the eye and spark a little smile of recognition—because sometimes, art is best when it leaves a little room for the imagination.
